Work over the summer holiday

During the summer holidays i decided to look at creating my own character designs as well as drawing pictures and characters over the internet to improve my drawing skills and to give me a better idea of character design, this is what i have done.

These are my own character designs, I based in on the japanese stye of drawing, exaggerating features, i picked a animal i wanted to draw in this case, a fennec fox, done a bit of research, using the help from kathy and this is what i came up with. Im rather happy in how this has turned out, the proportions don't look to bad and i hope ill be able to look at these pictures and hopefully turn them into something more disney like and american/english cartoon style.

Here i decided to drawthe cheshire car from the new alice in wonderland film, i felt like drawing something a but different and i loved the big eyes and wide grin and thought i would give it a go, i'm quite happy with the way it has turned out but maybe tone down the dark shading, making the darker areas look darker andmakethe strips morevisible.

1st picture: Here i decided to try and design my own disney lion, using Disney's style put it didn't turn out the way i wanted it, it ended up looking to much like Simba, i think maybe if i changed proportions and chose a different pose it would look less like Simba. Im going to keep trying to improve in this area.

Middle Picture: This picture came from a inspiration from the felix advert, i looked at the animated cat and rather liked the style of eyes, In my quite days at work i would doodle different types of wild cats using the style of eyes nothing turned out that great untill i drew something like the picture above so when i came back i re-drew the picture adding more detail. I think once i have more time i may take this picture into photoshop and add color and shading.

End picture: While researching different eye styles i decided to give a go at this style, as i'm quite fond of wolves in general i thought i draw a cartoon wolf using those stlye of eyes, i had to do a lot of research to get the pose and the look of the wolf but got there in the end. I rather like the actual wolf but i'm not to sure on the eyes, i think they slant down to much, if i was to do this again i would redesign the eyes.
