t-rex extra research

This is all the extra research i have looked into for my t-rex designs. May favorite style is the last picture on the end on the top row, i love the body shake and the eyes.

The end two pictures are another two of my favourites, i like the large nose on the middle picture and the mouth style on the end one and i have put them into both my character ideas.

The 1st picture, i like the simplicity of the picture and the leg and toe design and seemed a lot more simpler to draw then the other traditional t-rex legs and feet. The design fits into what i want in my final designs.

Pitch project getting started on t-rex

This is what i have come out with in my t-rex designs.

what i'm trying to achieve in this character is to make the head bigger then the rest of the body, caricature the t-rex, maybe using small eyes or really big ones.

The first image on the bottom page i rather like but it look a bit to mean, the proportions i wanted looks right, maybe develop that character maybe using different eyes and expression.
My other favorite is the picture at the end the dinosaur at the top, the head looks noticeably bigger then the body.
In the coming days i'm going to develop my favorite designs and hopefully find something that look good.

Pitch project

I started looking into research for our pitch project. My story is about a dinosaur and a little girl, i started looking into different styles of drawn t-rex for inspiration and this is what i found.

'
this just my basic stuff, i'm sure i'm going to look up more in time but this was to get me started, i wanted to have a character that didn't look to mean, something the audience could feel sympathy for and not to scare kids.

Work over the summer2

All of these pictures i looked at japanese style of drawing, i took the main picture of my character and but them in different poses, showing different angles an character.

One week i decided to draw actual wolfs then cartoon, i looked at the shape and look of the wolves and in the top left picture i concentrated on looking at the eyes and detail around the eyes, i rather like the look of the eyes, maybe the eyes could of been made a bit smaller.
In the 2nd left picture i found a picture some drew and i loved the shape of the wolf and the basic pose so i thought i would give it a go, i learnt a lot from drawing this picture, in shading the light areas and dark a well as fur detail.
The last picture on the end, i worked on for 2 hours, i'm quite happy with the proportions and i like the detail, i think i still need to work on the fur detail but over all i'm quite happy with it.

The first picture i found on deviant art, i loved the detail in the picture and the whole pose in general so i had a go at drawing the same picture and after decided to draw my own wolf in the same style, it didn't turn out the way i would of liked it to, i think the proportions are a bit out and i could of worked on the shading a bit more, but i like the pose and with a bit of practice i will hopefully improve.

This is my own cartoon style wolf, i moved away from the japanese animation and looked at other styles, it took me awhile to get the pose and proportions right but i'm rather happy the way it has turned out and hopefully will be able to take it into photoshop and color and shade it. The 1st picture next to it, is the research i did on eye styles, legs and mouths, this helped a lot with this picture.

This is another picture i found on deviant are, i found it rather cute and i like the style and the exaggerated parts on the picture and has given me ideas for my own designs.

Work over the summer holiday

During the summer holidays i decided to look at creating my own character designs as well as drawing pictures and characters over the internet to improve my drawing skills and to give me a better idea of character design, this is what i have done.

These are my own character designs, I based in on the japanese stye of drawing, exaggerating features, i picked a animal i wanted to draw in this case, a fennec fox, done a bit of research, using the help from kathy and this is what i came up with. Im rather happy in how this has turned out, the proportions don't look to bad and i hope ill be able to look at these pictures and hopefully turn them into something more disney like and american/english cartoon style.
Here i decided to drawthe cheshire car from the new alice in wonderland film, i felt like drawing something a but different and i loved the big eyes and wide grin and thought i would give it a go, i'm quite happy with the way it has turned out but maybe tone down the dark shading, making the darker areas look darker andmakethe strips morevisible.

1st picture: Here i decided to try and design my own disney lion, using Disney's style put it didn't turn out the way i wanted it, it ended up looking to much like Simba, i think maybe if i changed proportions and chose a different pose it would look less like Simba. Im going to keep trying to improve in this area.
Middle Picture: This picture came from a inspiration from the felix advert, i looked at the animated cat and rather liked the style of eyes, In my quite days at work i would doodle different types of wild cats using the style of eyes nothing turned out that great untill i drew something like the picture above so when i came back i re-drew the picture adding more detail. I think once i have more time i may take this picture into photoshop and add color and shading.
End picture: While researching different eye styles i decided to give a go at this style, as i'm quite fond of wolves in general i thought i draw a cartoon wolf using those stlye of eyes, i had to do a lot of research to get the pose and the look of the wolf but got there in the end. I rather like the actual wolf but i'm not to sure on the eyes, i think they slant down to much, if i was to do this again i would redesign the eyes.

3rd year project

These are the photoshop images i have colored in and shaded. The style was a newsroom look, something like sky for the reporter etc.

I am overall quite happy with them. If i have time i may work on them a bit more, tidy it all up etc.

I had to apply the images to each different scene. From doing with i have learnt how to transform an image and change the perspective.

Pitch project Storyboard

This is my storyboard for the pitch. I think the story is clear enough. I rather enjoyed drawing it all out and coming up with the story and has turned out better then what i thought it would
